Forty-five years ago, Fran left Seoul as a teenager, carrying little more than an artist’s heart and a longing for freedom. The tanks that rumbled past her school windows marked a path she refused to follow. She moved to New York, where the simple act of saying, “I want to be an artist,” felt like an act of rebellion.

It was eight years ago when the call came. A small, failing hotel in Costa Rica needed help. For Fran, it was just another puzzle to solve, a business to fix and sell. But as the jungle wrapped itself around her, as the rhythm of the ocean wove its way into her days, she found herself staying. Mango Moon was no longer a project—it became her home, a canvas for the life she had always dreamed of but never quite dared to name.
